CLIMATE CHANGE

What is climate change by the way? It refers to an increase in average global temperatures. Natural events and man made activities are believed to be contributing to an increase in the temperature. Climate change is now widely recognized as the major environmental problem facing the globe.

As we can see, this climate change has already cause many phenomenons that are conquering our country just like the Super Typhoon Yolanda that hit the Visayas, weeks ago. It was believed that it was because of climate change that made it so strong that it killed approximately 9-10 thousand people and destroyed almost the cities of Tacloban, Samar, etc. No one of us wants to suffer more because of climate change. We must know our responsibilities and duties to preserve and protect our Nature. We must act now before it's too late. We don't want the next generation to suffer like we did.

EQUAL RIGHTS, EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Each and everyone of us have rights. We are all born naked, meaning, we are all equal. Whether we are poor or rich, that doesn't change anything. Having equal rights means having equal opportunities.

All of us should be treated the same and equally because we are of the same kind, meaning when we have equal rights, we have equal opportunities. Genuine equality between men and women should be present cause it's one important ingredient for a peaceful and productive country. It means, we should avoid discrimination, because it doesn't matter whether we are a male or female, we are all the same, we should have that equal rights for ourselves.

Equal rights and equal opportunities are purely power relationships and they can help in the progress, not only for our selves, but for all.

ENGLISH

English? Yeah, that's the language I'm using right now. It is considered by many as the global language cause it seems that all, if not, majority of the countries in the world knows this language. It is considered as cornerstone for peace and communication because it helps us understand one another. Through this language, we could expre
ss our feelings, our opinions, our thoughts.
Filipinos are known around the world for their proficiency in speaking in English language. Other countries have praise us because of our ability to deliver and adapt English language as communication. Because of our proficiency, many of us are already in other countries because of their ability. It means that, it can help us not only for communication, but also for jobs, etc.

Admit it or not, English is one of the cornerstone of the progress of our country. Without it, we would be nothing. We would be considered as underdogs.

REFLECTION - 2nd Grading

So for this grading period, we had discussed new things like HTML, tags, attributes, etc. It was indeed a very interesting and exciting lesson because through this lesson, we learned how to make an html page.

But on this lesson, I had difficulties in accomplishing some of our activities because I was so confused on the different tags that you have to know. On one of my activity, I have interchanged some of the tags so when I opened it with Mozilla, it didn't look like it was supposed to be based on our examples. But, that didn't make me give up to this lesson, it's fun but so confusing. It's okay.

So, as we go on to our lessons about html, I hope in the future, I could possibly do a very beautiful website that everyone will use like the facebook, or google or twitter, etc.

HERO

Teachers. Professors. Educators. What comes through our mind when we talk about them? For me, they are the real heroes of our time. Why do I say that they are heroes? Of course, because they sacrifice all their time, all their efforts and all their hard works in giving education to students.

For me, they really are the heroes of our time. They always give their very best in giving quality education to every student in school. Some may underestimate their profession, but you know what? Honestly speaking, they have the profession which can be the greatest among all other profession in the world. Without them, there would be no doctors, no lawyers, no politicians. Without them, we would be nothing. Nothing at all.

So, as long as we still have time, go and thank your teachers for all of the things they have done for us.

Unravel the Causes. Build the Solution. Empower Science Clubbers to Action

What comes to our mind when we hear the word science? There are many things that run through our mind when we hear that word. Every month of September, we celebrate the Science and Technology month. This time with the theme: Unravel the Causes. Build the Solution. Empower Science clubbers to action. This year’s celebration comes with a very beautiful, meaningful and catching theme.
So for me, the theme is something that encourage us, students and science clubbers to unite and help one another to end majority of our problems in our community and society. We all know that there are so many problems occurring in our communities and in our country just like the different kinds of pollution that causes our environment to downgrade and be destroyed. So as a concerned citizen, and students, we must know and unravel its causes, and then build the solutions in order to solve this problem and empower and encourage every science clubber, every student and everyone to join and help us fight and end these problems.
As a student and as a science clubber, we should always protect and appreciate the beauty of the nature because it’s one of the most beautiful gift that God has given to us.

Modern Day Hero

Since we are kids, we have those heroes we've always looked up to. Some of these heroes are Superman, Spiderman, Batman, etc. But, as time goes by, as we grow older, our heroes that we look up to change. Maybe, because we begin to realize that these heroes are not part of the reality, they're part of fiction world. Now that I'm old enough to understand how life works, I began to look up to my parents.

They're my new heroes. My parents have always been there for me. They've always been there right by my side in times of sorrow, happiness, joy. They've done everything for us to make us happy and contented. They have always supported us in everything we like to do, they have never doubted us. They may scold us many times, but that's okay for us, because I know it is for us to be better individuals, and have better personalities.

No matter what happens, they will always be my heroes. Nothing can change how I look up to them as my heroes.

WIKA NATIN ANG DAANG MATUWID

Every month of August each year, we celebrate and acknowledge the “Buwan ng Wika”. It is always being treasured by us Filipinos. We celebrate it to remember how important our language is to our country. We know that every country has their own language. Their own language that they use in communicating. If we don’t have that significant, unique and own language, it will lead to some circumstances like misunderstanding and disorder.
Having a unique language is like having a weapon and instrument to obtain the right path and way to peace and order of our country. It is very important for a country because it is a one big way to lead our countrymen into a better understanding and better condition. As we can see these days, our language “Filipino” is already being used and spoke by other nationalities, growing in numbers as days pass. They use it because they say it is a unique and very beautiful language. For me, our language is something that we can treasure for the whole history of our country and something that we can inherit to the next generation.

It is really really important for us to treasure, love and respect our language because it represents us, it represents of what and who we are. We must show to others that we are unique, and we are proud that we are Filipinos!

REFLECTION

So, for the first grading period of our subject ICT, there are many things that I have learned, there are many things I’ve discovered during our discussions and activities. This first quarter, we’ve learned the history of Internet, on how it started and how it progressed up to the present times, we discovered the individuals involved in the discovery of internet. Otherwise, we also learned how to make a blog, on how we can customize it on the way we like, what are the parts of a web page, web browser and many more.

Despite of those learnings and discoveries, there were also challenges or problems that I have encountered during the first grading period. One is, at first I didn’t know how to make a blog, I didn’t even know how to customize it, it’s just plain, simple blog of a student. The other problem was I had difficulties in memorizing the people involved in the discovery of the internet. But, I didn’t let those challenges bring me down easily. I asked help from my classmates regarding those problems. They helped me, and now, I can almost teach other students already on how to make a blog, etc.

Moving on, I hope that this ICT subject would make a great impact on me as an individual and as a student. I hope that by the end of my high school life, I would discover many things that I haven’t known before from this subject.

PNOY took one hour and forty three minutes delivering his fourth State of the Nation Address. It was a long, self-congratulatory address of enumeration of his administration's triumphs. PNOY failed to include the basic concerns of the majority of Filipinos: the need to generate jobs, raise the wages and salaries of workers and employees, lower the prices of electricity, water, fuel, and affordable needs and housings. Some says that " Economic growth should be felt, but the Aquino administration is not doing something new, they're just covering it up.", which I believe is true. The Filipinos can't feel the Economic Growth he is boasting. Prices of the basic needs is still high, many families still don't have their own houses, unemployment is still high as a mountains, crimes are still unpreventable. What now?

Aquino praised the expansion of the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, that from 700,00 households in 2010 to nearly 4 million households under his administration. PNOY even announced that the coverage of the program, and its budget would be increased this year to include children up to 18 years of age. But, what will happen if there will still be no available job for you? You would still be poor my friend. PNOY also declared that the government has been providing so-called "opportunities" for those who wants jobs and what is left for the people to do is to "maximize" these opportunities. But according to the data from the government, unemployed workers grew form 9.5 million in 2010 to 11.6 million this year.

Aquino boasted in his SONA that the agriculture grew thrice from 1.1 to 3.3 percent in 2010, but the farmer's groups said he failed to raise the issue of peasant poverty as a result of landlessness and joblessness. Aquino especially mentioned that the manufacturing sector's 28.5 percent growth. But, under Aquino, the workers seem to have not received any wage hike. Worse, Aquino has sought to cut their already low-minimum wages through two-tiered wage system.

Aquino's attempt in putting the blame for the country's problems and corruption on the previous government like the Marcos administration is becoming unconvincing and painful to growing number of Filipinos. I, even as a student only, can't accept Aquino's words of hypocrisy in blaming the past government for the country's problems. PNOY is congratulating himself for his job well done. Summarizing all those where it came from, 2010 up to now, seems like not okay for me. Not okay.

Every month of July, we celebrate the Nutrition Month. So, this event focuses on every aspect related to the health of every individual. Every year, we have different themes to focus on, and this year's theme is "Gutom at Malnutrisyon, Sama-sama nating wakasan". This year's theme focuses its attention to the hunger and malnutrition suffered by almost half of Filipinos. This is to give awareness to the people about this current problem. This should be the main objective of our government: to find solutions to end this problem. There are so many ways to at least help our government, we can donate some goods and medicines for the poor, conduct activities such as feeding programs with the help of the local government.

On our school, every year we conduct such activities to celebrate the Nutrition Month. Some of these activities are poster-making contests, mural paintings, cook and food festivals, nutri-quiz, nutri-jingle composition, etc. I encourage everybody to join these activities to  experience  fun.

Dear Mr. President,

Allow me to extend my gratitude to you for a job well done to our country the past three years. There are still many works to do for our country. Some of your promises are not yet granted. We, your people are still waiting for those promises back in 2010. You must show us that you are the president that everyone is looking for. It's time to make things happen. We know that you have a good intention in running for presidency. Your people will support you and are still expecting a lot from you.

Our country is still facing many problems that are yet to be solved. Our country is still sick and poor. Our nation is flawed and orderless. Our culture is  diverse. You must find ways to have those problems healed. Even though you won't please everyone, at least, please try to make effort. Don't just do the talking. Be the president that the nation wanted you to be. Make your parents proud of you. Be an inspiration to everyone. Show them the leadership skills that your parents taught you. We hope, for the next years to come, we will see a change to our country. It's time to go out there, and unleash the force and determination left within you. I am not expecting you to change all aspects of our country, no one man can do that, but we expect you will inspire us Filipinos to strive harder.

Mr. President, I know that there is still a sleeping giant within you. Awaken it and strive to make our nation better and greater. We've seen your capabilities, we've seen the enhancements you've done for the past three years, and we expect that we will see more from you. You've given us hope, we know you can do it.
